This
may very well be my last (or interested) blog on the playoffs. For as you know the Pistons have been defeated
(again) in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Is it to much to ask
for the Pistons to have been on their A game and defeat a lowly team like the
Cavs. Never I have I ever seen a team so well
built and balanced like the pistons to have come undone by a one man show. And then to over look that rookie that wanted to play
just like Billups and actually ended up outplaying him. Its just ridicules.
Now we come to the
harsh realization that we (the Pistons) might just have to start some light
rebuilding to the team. First and foremost,
we must keep Billups, he's a key part to the pistons offence. Rip and Tay are still in their prime
and therefore not expendable. Rasheed on the other
hand might be expendable, as for Webber, his days are numbered in terms of
wither or not he will be viable for the next season in terms of his age. As are Hunter and Davis. The next person that might be moved and
that should be moved is Nazr Mohommad, but the only thing wrong with him is
that his contract is to large to move and might have some difficulty moving
him.
The next, last and most important person that needs to be moved out is the head coach himself, that's right, Flip Sanders. Now don't get me wrong, Flip is a decent coach but his inability to coach deep into the playoffs is getting to be a problem. If anybody cared to notice, Flip only got out the first and second round only one in his entire ten years with Minnesota, only to loose in the western conference finals to LA. This man has proven time and time again that he is incapable of coaching his way out the conference finals. His leadership is not what the pistons need right now. I understand the way in which Joe is trying to position the pistons for the future of basketball but Flip is just not what we need. If we had the option of having him exclusively for the regular season and then bring in Larry Brown for the post season, that would be nice but that won't happen. The only other option I see for the pistons is to do away with Flip and hire either one of three prospects. The first being rehirihing Rick Carsliey, hirihng Bill Lambear and the last is hiring Michigan State Head coach Tom Izzo.
But whatever the
pistons do in the off-season, look for them to be difference in a lot of ways. For this group that we see now, will
never be the same.
As for my NBA finals
prediction: Spurs in 6
I'm out.
Like the hopes and dreams of the Pistons
